ACM Hong Kong Chapter (ACM-HK) is celebrating her 20th birthday on 22-Feb-2008. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have dedicated to ACM-HK in the past 20 years. Our special thanks go to Prof. Francis YL Chin from Hong Kong University who founded this Chapter in 1988 (when many of our current committee members were still in primary school at that time). We also like to express our appreciation to the chairpersons who led ACM-HK in the past decades, including Ronnie Cheung (PolyU), Helen Meng (CUHK), Jimmy To (PolyU), Chris Yang (CUHK), Ho-Fung Leung (CUHK), Dik Lee (HKUST), Kam-Fai Wong (CUHK),  K. S. Leung (CUHK), and Francis YL Chin (HKU).

ACM Programming Contest 2008

The 2008 contest will be hosted by City University of Hong Kong, tentatively during June or early July. Invitation letters will be sent out to major local universities in Hong Kong and Macau during March.

The Fourth Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macau Conference on Information Technology in Education (GHM 2008)

Due to the geographical proximity and common cultural background of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, and the rapid development of information technology in education in these regions, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Conference on Information Technology in Education has been organized, in turn, in the three regions since 2005 to facilitate academic communication and experience sharing of educators in these regions. This year, the conference will be held in Hong Kong, with City University of Hong Kong as the main organizer. The objective of the conference is to promote development of information technology in education, to provide a forum for educators and researchers to share experience, and to facilitate academic collaboration between these regions. The conference will be held on July 4 and July 5, 2008 at City University of Hong Kong, and will include plenary talks, oral presentations, panel discussions and project demonstrations. The main audience will be teachers in primary schools, secondary schools and universities, and educational researchers.

International Conference on Hybrid Learning (ICHL 2008)

Hybrid learning is an increasing trend in education today. The traditional classroom learning has been proven as an effective means of instruction. E-learning provides flexibility in teaching and learning. Hybrid learning is to combine the two learning environments to maximize student's learning. The International Conference on Hybrid Learning (ICHL 2008) is a forum for educators and e-learning experts to exchange their ideas and experiences in hybrid learning. It will be held at the City University of Hong Kong, 13-15 August 2008. The detailed information about the Conference is available at: http://www.cs.cityu.edu.hk/~ichl2008/

The ICHL is organized by City University of Hong Kong, Caritas Francis Hsu College and Caritas Bianchi College of Careers. It is sponsored by, Hong Kong Computer Society, Hong Kong Baptist University, Lingnan University, School of Continuing and Professional Studies of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, School of Professional and Continuing Education of The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Pei Hua Education Foundation, K. C. Wong Education Foundation, ACM (Hong Kong Chapter) and in co-operation with IEEE Computer Society (Hong Kong Chapter)
